Inflows and Outflows – Talking Points

Suffice to say, most market commentators got their predictions wrong, following Pakatan Harapan’s victory. Below was the market poll of their views:

*Market Poll*

JP MORGAN – Medium Term Sell

RHB – Negative/Sell

UBS – FBMKLCI  1504-1655

MORGAN STANLEY – Underweight

FIDELITY – Downward bias

NOMURA – Underweight
FX – 12 months Ringgit 4.20-4.30

ALLIANCEDBS – Buy on dips

DBS – Downside Risk

CAPITAL ECONOMICS – Sell

IHS Markit – Sell

Even my favourite business magazine, covered their asses with a premature salvo. The issue arrived in my mailbox on Tuesday 8 May, the issue was dated 30 April …

Again, we do not fathom why people get paid big bucks to write nonsense. You get the election results wrong, ok I can understand cause you may not get the pulse of the nation. Or you believed in the machinery of the previous government. Or you believed that the shennanigans, gerrymandering, scare tactics were sufficient to brush aside the power of democracy.

Not getting the election results right is one thing, not getting the reaction of the markets is less forgivable. Again, the old adage that most people get by in life by using “anchor and adjust” decision making theory. You only anchor at the previous point and adjust based on your perceptions or persuasions. There is no room for “insights” and intelligence because thats how the average get by.

So, how should we interpret the foreign net outflows:
May 14    -RM682.6m
May 15    -RM837.3m
May 16    -RM320.7m
May 17    -RM384.4m
May 18    -RM251.2m

There were naturally a lot of counters which went limit down on massive volume. There were also some counters which went limit up, but these were much fewer, and less robust compared to the selling that enveloped “limit down counters”.

The KLCI went negative only briefly before restoring near parity, and even went up later.

This is my view: its not so much the net outflows, but to look at the net outflows as a percentage of actual volume traded daily. You will find that net outflows was around 10%-20% of actual volume traded. That basically told us that local institutions, and more so, retail investors, were back in taking up the slack. The net outflow figures should not be too alarming when you look at the overall picture.

False Optimism?: Would this heightened activity and positivity from local funds and retail investors be termed as “being overly optimistic”? Short answer: NO. Long answer: Definitely not! All things being equal, all the debts, excesses, mismanagement, etc… were there before and after the elections. How would a Pakatan Harapan government BE WORSE in rectifying those missteps??!!

This is my p/s view: Look at the foreign net outflow, I suspect it was not a true reflection of the mentality of foreign funds participation. I suspect a substantive amount of selling that came from “foreign funds” were some bigwigs of the past government trying to extract funds out of the country as the very platform holding up their ability to plunder in the past was shakier than a 93 year old man’s walking stick (no offence to Tun).

Hence, reading between the lines, I think there is a gradual build up of genuine foreign funds coming in based on the smart/immediate steps taken by Tun M and his team.
a) Council of Elders – an immediate steadying of the ship; a brilliant move to bring back proven performers; getting Robert Kuok was a masterful move as there are a lot of substantive deals with China that needs to be renegotiated, and to pacify relations owing to some questioning of China’s motives and investing strategy; an immediate strategic review and recalibration of the roles of major investing bodies…
b) Fast Action – to restore the 3 pillars of good governance, the legislative, executive and judiciary
c) Market Friendly – Tun M and Tun D, both knew how important the stock market is to the country; they have been making the right sounds and whistles

I expect certain companies will be “forced to sell” at low prices to rid of cronies of the past. It is very critical not to have a BN 2.0 infiltrating the system. Either by way of “new members joining PH for the wrong reasons” or “tainted business folks kissing new asses for survival”.

Grey To Bright Gold: It will be a bit grey on the newfront initially as tallies of mismanagement, debts and hidden mistakes are brought to light. Expect a generous uptrend as assets are retrieved, savings shored up by more professional management, a more robust and transparent market for business deals, and just better management of our vast resources. Our resources just need to be managed better for the country to swiftly move back on the track of glory.

Generation Y vs School Education

Image result for images of uncaring society
Life is about learning new things daily.  One should stay alert to our surrounding to the changes within.
At the age of 62 years old, I learnt that there are various types of Education.  Like most people the meaning of Education means going to school and passing all the exams to gain employment.
UMNO controlled the people by using Religion as an Education.
Daim and Mahathir now believe that guiding the Rakyat through proper Education combine with Religion then people will use their brain to think and develop this nation.
To me, I was brought up the manners of my time and an English education.  Life was straight forward and honest then.
Today having raised five children in the same manner I was brought up, I learnt a bitter lesson from my self-centred youngest son Amsyar and non-existence daughter Arniza.
Amsyar since started work till today has never given me any allowance or pocket money even though he earns between RM8,000 – RM9,000 per month. His reasoning is – I have never paid for his University Education so why do I need to receive his working money. It is unbelievable that Amsyar forgot I gave birth to him, I fed him, I washed his butt when he poops, I was his driver, his tuition teacher, plainly put I was his full time servant. To Amsyar my duty as his mother ended the minute he earned his first salary. Somewhere along the line a mistake must have been make because his 2 eldest brothers have always make an effort to give me pocket money each month, we eat and chat quite often and my birthday is not forgotten.  Their action though small makes me happy to be their mum. To Amsyar having dinner or to celebrate my birthday is like asking him to give me half his liver.
My non-existence highly educated daughter Arniza thinks that I should be her mother in name only and should remain dead till I am needed.  Arniza turned 360 degree from being a humble loving girl to a deceiving person. To Arniza it is a burden to have a meal once a week with me and to spend time is like living in hell at home.  Her home is just for sleeping purpose.
Going to school and University is just an education that one goes through to get employment.
Showing compassion, love and care for everyone especially parents are taught at home yet can be unlearned through an environment of ill mannered, self-centred and materialistic society.  This is the Generation Y society today.

*********************************************************
Call me names and insult me if I am not right to say some of the people named here should not be given a Minister Post.

Number 1 – Why is Azmin given a Minister post?  At 93 years old, Mahathir can kick the bucket anytime.  So do you think Malaysians especially the Muslim Freak will accept Kak Wan as Prime Minister?  As long as DSAI is not a Minister he can continue to dream. So the deal between Mahathir, Daim and Azmin is on for the PM post.

Number 2 – In the history of Malaya and now Malaysia, has any DPM been given a Women Ministry?  This is a big insult to PKR and Kak Wan.  Is Kak Wan not capable to be Education Minister?

Number 3 – Zuraida said she will step down and not stand at the GE14.  Yet she did not do so.  What happened to her corruption and cheating case with her toy boy?  Looks like this new Government will have another Mother Cow in the making.

Number 4 – What experience does Rina Harun has to be a Rural Minister?

Number 5 – Why is the Education Minister post given to an Islamic Freak by the name of Dr Maszlee?  Malaysia does not need to go down the Islamic ways again.

I am happy to give Mahathir two years and Anwar a term as Prime Minister.  But if Azmin were to become a Minister now then the chances of Anwar becoming the next Prime Minister will only be a dream.

Knowing Anwar’s fate, his time is over the day Mahathir dies.

Dr Arniza Khairani – University of Malaya

As a mother without guidance I brought the children up to the best of my ability.  My priority has always been to ensure the family eat together, sleep together, play together, cry together, suffer together etc.
Religion and race were never brought into our lives.  Everyone has their share of weakness and strength.
Even when my ex husband’s family members insulted me regarding the manner I brought up the children, why I do not pray in front of them etc, I never answered back due to my respect for them as my eldest.
When my ex husband insisted that Hari Raya is to be spent with his family members and relatives, I never once objected.  After the death of my ex husband’s mother I did suggest few times it is best we have our own family celebration inviting friends over.  My ex husband ignore the suggestion.
When men proposed marriage to my eldest daughter, my ex husband is ever ready to take up the offer without checking the background of each candidate.
My daughter Arniza is easily influence by people who can manja her.  This is due to lack of love from her own father.  My ex husband is typical Melayu, big ego with no substance.  To my ex husband, his duty is only face value as a father and husband. He does not care whether they study or not, whether there is food on the table, whether bills are paid, when asked to help around the house or do minor repairs everything can wait and wait.  Even when the children and I are sick, never once was there any concern shown by my ex husband.
In my home I have the duty of being a Father, Provider, Nagger and Mother.
This is why my daughter Arniza can mock and show disrespect for me after my divorce.
In Australia, when Arniza was doing her Master she was contacted by our Jakim whereby they slowly brain washed her about Islam.  Then when she went for BTN, that spell the end of an open minded woman.
To Arniza, her mother no longer play a role in her life.  Everything that the family used to do is now sinful and haram.
I have right from the beginning wanted certain conditions to be met before her marriage.  As a Muslim and a mother I felt she had to have an Insurance to fall back for the future as a woman does not have rights after marriage in Islam.
Like any mother I love to have an extended family living in the same house.
During my time as a Mother I have tried to show the importance of being a family first and everything else second.
One batang wants to destroy the family.  The middle believe she must obey the two batangs. The second batang wants what he cannot have.
TODAY THE DAUGHTER I GAVE BIRTH TO AND BROUGHT UP NO LONGER EXIST IN MY LIFE.
TO THIS, I END MY DUTY AS A MOTHER TO DR ARNIZA KHAIRANI.
I WILL NOT COME FOR YOUR FUNERAL, NEITHER SHOULD YOU COME TO MINE. LET US HAVE A CLEAN CUT.

Muhamad Lukman Samsudin from Bank Rakyat

Today is the start of Puasa.
I have always said that what I write is under oath to Allah during the fasting period.
My karma will be greater.
As a Muslim woman there is no justice in Malaysia version of Islam when a wrong cannot be corrected.
What happened to me, should never be repeated to any mother in the world.
One sacrifice so much to bring a life to this world and in return got rejected, mocked, shamed and disrespected in public by the same life.
Some said my daughter Arniza got charmed by bomoh, jampi etc.
To those who knows Arniza, do look at her eyes when you talk to her.
If she avoids contact means she is indeed caught in the black magic circle that is practice among the kampung folks.
My ex husband, Lukman and his family are supporters of Bomoh.
So am I surprise if somethings were done to my daughter Arniza?
Not at all.
What Lukman has done is typical of the Malays.  It is the environment and parenting that made them like that.

Thank you Rahah Noah

Many people have never question why Najib and Rosmah did not run when the result came in between 7pm – 12 midnight, that Barisan Nasional has lost.

The bulk of stolen wealth has already been flown out months before GE14 was called.  The mansion in Samui is almost completed.  Houses in Australia and other countries were ready to welcome them.

The truth is Puan Rahah Noah did not want to die in a foreign country and Najib being the eldest son had no choice but to obey her, since she was the shield and protector for all his sins.

Dr Arniza Khairani should never have been born

TODAY IS MOTHER’S DAY.
A DAY TO REJOICE WITH OWN FAMILY.
BUT BECAUSE OF MY EX HUSBAND’S HATRED AND REVENGE ON ME DEMANDING FOR A DIVORCE, MY FAMILY ARE BROKEN INTO PIECES.
DR ARNIZA KHAIRANI TOGETHER WITH MY EX HUSBAND MOHD JAMIL AND MUHAMMAD LUKMAN SAMSUDIN PROCLAIMED ME DEAD INSIDE MASJID MUADZ BIN JABAL.
I HAVE TRIED MY BEST, HOW A FAMILY SHOULD BE TOGETHER BUT FAILED.
FROM THIS PICTURE ONE CAN TELL WHEN A MAN DISTANCE HIMSELF EVEN ON A HAPPY OCCASION, SHOWS HIS CHARACTER.
MOHD JAMIL PRAYS FIVE TIMES A DAY EITHER IN MASJID OR SURAU WITHOUT FAIL.
YET HE DOES NOT VALUE HIS OWN FAMILY.

Diary Of An Election – Malaysia Boleh?

Malaysia Boleh?

I will be honest here. I used to cringe .. a lot… whenever I hear shouts of “Malaysia Boleh”… anywhere, even at sporting events. I mean, its actually a meek war cry .. imagine soldiers shouting that while charging the enemy. Doesn’t quite cut it.

That is until 9 May 2018. Don’t even need to shout it because in our hearts of hearts, those two words were emblazoned and burned into our memory and conscience forever.

Malaysia Boleh – we not only did something for our country, we are actually the shining light of democracy to the world now. No other nation can say they have a change in government, without bloodshed or riots.

Even in the eye of blatant bias all along the voting process, negative bias treatment of candidacy and opposition parties, excessive gerrymandering, hastily enacted rules and laws to frustrate all on the opposing side …

Despite.., in spite of …, Malaysia changed the government by muscling democracy to more than just bare popular vote threshold. With odds so stacked against us, we not just prevailed… we faced it hard, looked them in the eyes, doubled down, and …we did not just win, WE TRIUMPHED. Malaysia Boleh… oh yes, we can, and we did.

Like another writer said, now we are a beacon for democracy for the rest of the world to follow. Malaysia, a population of less than 30m…, showed the world you can achieve proper democracy with non-violence, if you want it hard enough, and you need to unite in ONE VOICE.

THE DIARY

It’s been an exhausting yet exhilarating 12 hours. My thumb has never had such a workout. I felt like I was holding Beyoncé’s and Taylor Swift’s handphone. The number of messages might indicate that I was in running for the most popular person on earth.

What was most exhausting was trying to ensure the messages were roughly true. Even more exhausting was trying to pacify friends who were losing heart. It was all so busy, I forgot to eat.

Then half an hour ago, a close cousin asked via WeChat about the progress. As I changed tack to type a personal response, tears flowed freely as I typed “my country has changed government”. I don’t know why, maybe I do.  I am sure many of you do too. This is not like winning Thomas Cup joy .. this was a struggle by so many for our country for so long.

I cannot thank the legions of opposition leaders and members enough who had to endure so much for so long. The general public just stood under the umbrella they provided. The umbrella of justice and fairness, they had a voice for us as we went along our lives. Hidup Malaysia!
