Tun Mahathir, Tun Daim – Pakatan Harapan Has Lost It. Johor Sultan, Singapore Water, ECRL, Flying Cars Are Not Bread And Butter.

If a By Election is held in Jalan Masjid India tomorrow, the Pakatan Harapan will also get kicked out. 

If a By Election is held in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman tomorrow, the PH will get kicked out as well. 

If there are By Elections held in Kedah or the Felda areas tomorrow, the PH will get kicked out.

The decades of extreme hardwork and lifelong commitment of the Jalan Masjid India and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman business people are being trampled upon in favour of unknown hawkers and illegal warong traders who are essential components of the DBKL’s corrupted ‘street hawker’ scam.  This was going on under the BN. It is still going on now under the PH.

That River of Life project is being worked at a dead snails pace – messing up the area for two years now, roads have been closed, sidewalks ripped up, traffic heavily disrupted resulting in heavy loss of business. 

And get this – the hawkers and illegal warong operators do not even live there or vote there.  Many, many of them come from as far away as Indonesia. They are NOT your voters. 

Your voters are the business community who have spent their whole lives building up Jalan Masjid India and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman to be what it is today. They are being trampled upon.  These folks will also not vote for the PH anymore.

Just like in Rantau. 

Before I analyse Rantau a little,  here is some really, extremely very important feedback from a citizen of Rantau on what is not happeming in Rantau.

20,926 voters in Rantau. 
55% or 11,615 voters Malay 
26% or 5,441 voters Indian

My comments : Well you folks are Chinese. So no one cares about you. 

N’theless these comments exactly reflect the weak attitudes of the governments – before (ie the BN) and now PH. 

The government is not focussing on developing the entire community. 

Development has been selective, chunky, often one time only type of investment. 
And often localised  ‘white elephants’ that miss the target.
(Just count the number of giant sized dewan serbaguna in the country.)

Build up the peoples’ resilience to progress themselves. 
The trick is to grow the people – such that the people can develop the economy by themselves and do not need the government anymore. All the people. 

This is not happening.  

From Teluk Datai in Langkawi to Tanjong Labian in Sabah we have wonderful towns and villages which have unlimited potential to sustain ALL our people – independent of the government. We really do not need government except to run the schools well, the hospitals, police, the airports, ports, provide power, water and pick up the garbage.   Otherwise stay out of the peoples’ way.

Given the right education, training and attitude the people will flourish. 
This is not happening. 
Government is standing in the way. 
The government is a hindrance. 

Like what is going on in Jalan Masjid India, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and in so many other places. The government is a damned hindrance. 

That is why the  people voted out the BN. 
Now they are voting out the PH
If the BN wins and does not perform the people will vote them out again.
But at what cost? So much wasted time. 
Peoples’ lives are over before anything real can happen.

Now here are some thoughts on not just Rantau but the SEVEN by elections that have been held so far.

1. Sg Kandis in Selangor was the first PRK (Pilihanraya Kecil) which was held on 4th Aug 2018.  It was less than THREE months after the 14th GE on May 9th, 2018. 

The Pakatan Harapan won Sg Kandis but with a smaller majority. The majority decreased from 12,000 votes down to 5,800 votes.   The voter turnout was also low at 49%.  This was too soon after the GE and maybe people were still recovering from election fatigue but n’theless the much reduced majority was an indication. Within three months, the people were not seeing anything great from the PH.

2. Sri Setia in Selangor was the second PRK held on 8th September 2018. Although the PH won, the reduction in the number of votes for the PH  was humongous. From scooping up 29,000 votes in the GE, PH’s votes went down to 13,725. (Because the voter turnout was only 44% dummy!) Whatever – it was still down by a whopping 16,000 votes.  People did not even come out to vote. They were getting fed up.

3. Next up was the Balakong PRK held on 8th September 2018. The turnout was even lower at 43%.  Although the PH won (DAP) the votes for the PH decreased from 41,000 during the GE, down to 22,000 in the PRK.   That was a loss of 19,000 votes.  People just did not come out. 

4. Then there was Brader Anwar’s Port Dickson move. The Port Dickson PRK took place on 13th October 2018.  (I say Brader Anwar what happened to your ‘mee segera’ PD Master Plan?  Which you unveiled in a world record time of just FOUR DAYS?)

In Port Dickson the voter turnout at 58% was higher than the FOUR previous PRK’s. The PH (Anwar Ibrahim) won but still the total votes for PH decreased from 36,000 (during the 14th GE) down to 31,000.  Higher turnout but less votes for PH. The votes for the BN increased.

5.  Next was the Cameron Highlands PRK held on 26th January 2019. Something began happening at the Cameron’s PRK, the voter turnout began going up – to 69%.  And reversing the trend of the previous FOUR PRKs, the BN won.  Plus  the tally for the BN increased from 10,000 to 12000 votes.   

(Note : In the FOUR previous By Elections (Sg Kandis, Sri Setia, Balakong, PD) which were all won by the PH, the vote majority for the PH was decreasing in all four seats.  

But at the Cameron Highland’s PRK, the first win for the BN, the BN secured a higher vote tally than during the 14th GE. The people were really getting tired of the Pakatan Harapan – in just NINE months.

6. Then it was the PRK in Semenyih, held on 2nd March 2019. The voter turnout was even higher at 73%. More people were  coming out to vote to show their displeasure at the Pakatan Putus Harapan.  

Not only did the BN wIn easily BUT the votes for the BN INCREASED again – from 14000 achieved during the 14th GE to 19000. An extra 5,000 votes. 

And get this,  this was formerly a PH seat – belonging to Parti Bersatu (my party!!) 


7. Now the PRK Rantau has been held yesterday 13th April 2019. The voter turnout was even higher at 79%. Yes the SPR is doing a better job at getting the voters to come out to vote but the truth is the people want to show their displeasure at the PH. 

The BN has won again – now its THREE PRKs in a row. 

The BN / UMNO’s Mohamed Hassan defeated PH’s Dr S. Streram by a majority of 4,510 votes to win the Rantau state seat, which he has held for the past 15 years anyway.  Mohamad garnered 10,397 votes to Streram’s 5,887.

There is something else to note here. The PH’s director for the Rantau By Elections was none other than the Guinness Book of World Record’s “Port Dickson Master Plan In Four Days” Brader Anwar Ibrahim.  The PKR’s wannabe Prime Minister.

Just SIX months ago (Oct 13th 2018) Brader Anwar won the Port Dickson By Election. Now, despite him singing and dancing with the Indians, he has lost Rantau to the UMNO kleptocrats.   Mohamed Hassan is famous for that RM10 million ‘money transfer’ case.   Despite all that he still won. 

Conclusion :

THERE IS NO FREE MARKET IN MALAYSIA. THE ECONOMY IS CLOSER TO A FAILED SOCIALIST AND COMMUNIST MODEL.

The economy is not doing great at all.   Business is tanking. 

Yesterday my wife went to the kedai cermin mata across the road to fix something. Sudah tutup kedai. That kedai cermin mata was there for so many long years. 

The government does not understand. 

The Minimum Wage is killing business. 

1.  Postpone the Minimum Wages. Declare a FIVE year Moratorium for the Minimum Wages. Until our economic growth hits at least 6% and above.  Why cannot? Indonesia, Philippines are achieving better than that. 

Our Third World, labour intensive, low technology economy cannot afford Minimum Wages. 

2.  Cut the tolls. Reduce the tolls by at least HALF A SEN per kilometre.

Folks here is an unkept secret :  

i. PLUS DOES NOT PAY CORPORATE TAXES. PLUS HAS BEEN EXEMPTED FROM PAYING TAXES. BANYAK CANTIK KAN? THEY SUCK OUT SO MUCH MONEY FROM US BUT  THEY THEMSELVES  DO NOT HAVE TO PAY TAXES.

ii. ALSO A PORTION OF PLUS’ TOLL REVENUES ARE PAID DIRECTLY TO THE GOVERNMENT. SO THE GOVERNMENT IS A DIRECT BENEFICIARY OF PLUS’ TOLL REVENUES. SO WHY WOULD THE GOVERNMENT WANT TO GET THE TOLLS REDUCED?

Cut or abolish the tolls.

3.  Cut the duties, levies, taxes, whatever on imported motorcars.  Objective : take the car prices DOWN to match world market prices. 

Yes I want to buy another Mercedes. Or Toyota. Its my right.  

Why should I pay TWO OR THREE TIMES MORE than the Americans for a Toyota?  

I am NOT a rich American. I am a poor Malaysian.  

Why should I be paying THREE TIMES more than the Americans for a Toyota or a Mercedes? Something is seriously wrong with car prices in this country.

4.  Abolish the monopolies and oligopolies.

TNB, POS Malaysia, Bernas, Petronas, Syabas, Bukan Syabas, Puas, Tak Puas, Metrology,  the GLC companies, the  severely restricted Banking system, are all causing huge damage to the economy. They are lazy, and yes “indolent”, inefficient, non competitive. 

Free market competition, innovation and creativity in the economy has been stifled for the past 40 years, especially over the past 15 years.

THERE IS NO FREE MARKET IN MALAYSIA. 

THE ECONOMY IS CLOSER TO A FAILED SOCIALIST AND COMMUNIST MODEL. 

SPECIAL BRANCH PLEASE GO AND ‘ABDUCT’ ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY SOCIALISTS AND COMMUNISTS.

5. Abolish the APs. 

Why did the MITI issue 36 new APs?  Darrel Leiking  the YB from Sepilok does not seem to understand. 

The question is WHY issue APs at all?

Why do we need an AP to import onions?   

I say YB Sepilok, lu tak suka makan bawang kah? 

APs to import Christmas turkeys? 

Abolish the AP system. Please do it yesterday.

APs cause prices of goods to become higher.

6.  Get rid of Zakir Naik.  You have lost the 26% Indian vote in Rantau also because of Zakir Naik.  You also lost the >20% Indian vote in Cameron Highlands also because of Zakir Naik. It all adds up.

Or you can hang Zakir Naik around your neck and go and jump in the nearest sh_thole. Its your choice. 

 

Get rid of the Muslim Brotherhood. 

Get rid of the pro ISIS university (it is still operating in Shah Alam, now they have a ‘for show’ only Melayu CEO but the pro ISIS Pak Arab are still running the place.)

Get rid of that trouble causer from the Darul Teroris in the north.

7.  The Pakatan Harapan just does not have talent – in its MPs or in the Cabinet. The Ministers are just clowning around.  Their incompetence is coming out super loud and clear.

Most need to be replaced. Or the PM has to micro-manage the Ministries. 

You really dont have much choice.

That smoking ban was a dumb thing to do.

Academics convinced rulers with ‘biased’ paper, students claim

A group of student activists today released an executive summary of a paper by four academics which they claimed was used to convince the Conference of Rulers to reject the Rome Statute.

“The arguments in the paper were very biased as they only discussed why the Conference of Rulers should reject the Rome Statute.

“We are making this revelation to create a dialogue among academics at all levels,” the group said.

According to the leaked paper, it was presented on April 2 by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) law professor Rahmat Mohamad, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) law professor Shamrahayu Abdul Aziz and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (Usim) law lecturers Fareed Mohd Hassan and Hisham Hanapi.

The students said as ethical academics, they should have presented both the positives and negatives of the Rome Statute.

“They were the real cause of the confusion.

“We are making this revelation so that academics can come forward with their explanations for a healthy debate,” he said.

The students’ statement was jointly signed by Asheeq Ali Sethi Alivi, Ainina Sofia Adnan Nurhuda Binti Ramli, Suhail Wan Azahar, Ahmad Taqiyuddin Shahriman, Wong Yan Ke, Chong Kar Yan, Nik Azura Nik Nasron and Siti Nurizzah Mohd Tazali.

The paper had among others, cited examples of war crimes tribunal against Emperor Wilhelm II and Emperor Hirohito, which preceded the International Criminal Court (ICC), governed by the Rome Statute.

This, it said, proved that rulers were not immune from prosecution at the ICC.

The paper also claimed that Myanmar, which was not a party to the Rome Statute, cannot be brought to the ICC despite accusation of ethnic cleansing against the Rohingya community.

However, the students said this was untrue.

They pointed out that the ICC had in September last year ruled that it has jurisdiction over the alleged deportation of Rohingya people from Myanmar to Bangladesh and that it was a possible crime against humanity.

They further pointed out that the US, despite not being a member of the ICC, was also being probed for possible war crimes in Afghanistan.

The students said the points made by the academics to the conference of rulers must be properly debated in public to avoid confusion.

On Friday, Mahathir announced Malaysia’s withdrawal from the Rome Statute, citing confusion created by “one particular person who wants to be free to beat up people”.

Salicious accusations have been made recently against the eldest scion of the NAZA Group, claiming everything you would imagine a perverted movie character would do in a horror flick. The intent was clear – shock and shiok.
The owner of the blog Steadyaku47 and the writer probably felt they were sodomised by DAP and NAZA group respectively, and entered into an unholy marriage of convenience to earn some money and some revenge, respectively.

From 28 February to 5 April 2019, in a short span of just 5 weeks or about 40 days, Hussien Abdul Hamid, the Steadyaku47 blog owner has allowed a mercenary to post 10 ARTICLES on his blog – FOR MONEY. That is at a rate of 1 article every 4 days focussing on the eldest son of the founder of NAZA Group and the personal matrimonial issues with his ex-wife.

By all means – bring up and champion the issue of domestic violence and safety of women in a supposedly secure environment. All of us want to see that stopped all over the world. Heck, even the way these boys are squandering their papa’s legacy…that makes for good entertainment for us with daily bills to pay and bata shoes to buy.

What is NOT ON is dragging professionals who are paid managers, not related to this personal issue into this obviously orchestrated attack. The son has been forced to relinquish all his positions in the NAZA group. The other brothers and family have seen the importance of their Dad’s legacy to endure. There are Malaysian mouths to feed and their extended families to think about.

My circle of professionals and friends are of the same view – let the courts decide and above that – its for God to do justice. But divorce the rhetoric and personal attacks from the company and managers. That serves absolutely no purpose to advancing the core issue – spouse violence (both sides), public and lack of responsibility by both parents over the emotional trauma inflicted on the kids!

I am intrigued by these 10 ARTICLES IN 40 DAYS and am doing some digging to find out who is behind this…and why the sudden change of strategy to shamelessly drag in people not related to the issue like the professional paid senior managers.

As I have said many times before, Malaysia Today dabbles in the untold stories and the Naza Group is a success story that has largely thus far been untold. It is also a story about the importance of women in a family business and how they can be left exposed and vulnerable when factures begin to appear.

Malaysia Today offers exclusive insight into this company, which also provides a salutary lesson that any family business could learn from.

It must surely be the dream of many a small business-owner to grow his or her operation into a thriving, global and self-sustaining profitable enterprise.  Whether Nasimuddin SM Amin (Nasim) had this particular vision in mind when he opened a business at the age of 19 to support his mother, brothers and sisters is a moot point. Nevertheless, he certainly achieved it.

In 1974, Nasim set up a garage by importing second-hand Japanese cars. At that time you need not be an Umno crony to get your hands on APs or import permits and I, too, dabbled in the second-hand car import business for a brief period until I got my hands on the Mercedes Benz dealership for the state of Terengganu.

Today, the Naza Group’s tangible assets are conservatively estimated to be worth £2 billion. If you add in brand value and other intangible assets the figure could well be a lot higher. (READ: Prudent path to success)

Nasim was a colourful character. He had three wives and eleven children, didn’t so much smoke heavily rather he chewed his way incessantly through cigarettes, made some bitter enemies but gained a lot more friends.

That is the predicament of successful Malay entrepreneurs. People hate you just because you are successful even if they have never once met you in their lives. And Nasim was not exempted from what the Malays call the PHD syndrome: perangai hasat dengki, the syndrome that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad used to say would be the cause of the downfall of the Malays.

Role of women

Nasim’s third wife was only ‘discovered’ when he died an early death at age 53 on May 1st 2008, inevitably of lung cancer. She turned up at the funeral alongside the second wife, who also made her first public appearance much to the surprise of observers — the then prime minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, and former prime minister, Mahathir Mohamed, amongst them who also came to pay their respects.

However, Nasim’s story is not only remarkable for his tenacity and willpower — he faced many challenges, including how to convince customers to buy used cars when second-hand foreign cars were as popular as Umno is today — but it is also a story of the strength of family and, more darkly, the corrupting influence of money and power.

It is also the story about the place of women in a family business. They say behind every great man there is a great woman. In Nasim’s case it was four women — three wives and a modest, intelligent, and attractive younger sister, Norashikin S M Amin (Nora), who now lives in London under a sort of ‘exile’ from the family and estate.

Nasim’s wives, including his first wife Zaleha Ismail whom he married at 19 despite the age disparity, must have provide significant emotional and psychological support to Nasim in his early days of putting down his empire’s roots.

It appears that Nasim and Nora were very close — she played the role of confidante to her brother. Maybe they were the Malay version of Lisa and Bart Simpson. Nasim reposed significant trust in Nora to deal with his commercial, legal and personal affairs, but in return assumed a paternalistic and protective role in relation to her.

In her own way, Nora displays similar physical and characteristic traits to that of her brother — such as tenacity, wilfulness and ambition — and it was this that Nasim clearly saw. That was why he entrusted her alone with certain aspects of the confidential work involving the properties and litigation in the UK.

The strength of the relationship between Nora and Nasim illustrates what can be achieved in business when family members come together in a trusting and cooperative manner. In this manner, Nasim also collaborated with his brothers and expanded the Naza Group with Naza Kia and NZ Wheels. This is the value of family business. Help is there when it’s needed, because loyalty is never questioned.

But after his demise, where is Nasim’s family? Despite having more than four houses in London, Nora and her children are about to be evicted by the first wife Zaleha and her children. None of the brothers or sisters of Nasim is in the Naza Group business. No one knows the reason but it’s understandable that jealousy can be emotional acid that corrodes relationships and undermines self-esteem. Maybe it’s the same PHD syndrome or a sign of a power struggle and insecurity in the family echoing the clichés ‘the cause of the downfall of the Malays’.

The eviction news published in December shows how greed has taken over the family, and for reasons best known to the first wife and her family, Nora has been isolated and kept away from the estate. The trial of the case should be of interest to the Malaysian public, and the tax authorities in Malaysia and the UK. Maybe we could get more information of the MAS house and properties swap involving the ex-prime minister’s son, Kamaluddin Abdullah (READ: Naza family in tussle over London property).

Honouring the dead

Dark murmurings arose, whispers that the will had been changed a few days before Nasim’s death in favour of his first wife, Zaleha Ismail and her family, that the Naza empire was set to be carved up. (READ: Naza empire faces breakup over lawsuit in 2010)

In Muslim law there is legal provision for inheritance through Shariah but this has been ignored. There is also the matter of honouring the wishes of the dead. Nasim’s family members must be unanimous in their belief that Nasim would be appalled if he could see how events have unfolded due to the actions of the first wife Zaleha and her children.

Malay Drama

If anything, there is a salutary tale here for those who aim to grow their family businesses. Blood is thicker than water and generally you can rely on and trust family, which is a great blessing when building a business, whether it is a corner shop or an organisation that spans different countries. However, there comes a point when ownership, rights, duties and expectations must be nailed down legally.

As family businesses grow, especially through several generations, ties can become diluted, expectations become too high and collective ambition can wither on the jagged rocks of self-interest and greed.

Only about 30% of family and businesses survive into the second generation, 12% are still viable into the third generation, and only about 3% of all family businesses operate into the fourth generation or beyond. This, the Chinese believe, and usually the Chinese are well versed in such matters.

SM Nasimuddin is known among the UMNO elite and certain people in Pribumi as the PIMP.

And they know what Dato Samson, his good drinking buddy, The Star’s Dato Seri Wong Chun Wai (a Director in the NAZA group of Companies) and the other Editors, are also doing for NAZA and with NAZA  (nudge nudge wink wink). 

They know about the fake invoices magic that Samson does for SM Faisal and SM Nasarudin.  They know who is helping Samson with his lari cukai and fake invoicing scams….Yes they know about all this and yet they are NOT reporting? Why?  Long story short…ADVERTISING MONEY!
